Men's Lacrosse Defeated in First Road Game of Season

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team played on the road for the first time this season and lost 10-4 at Marymount University on Wednesday.

A six-goal first quarter by the Saints (3-2) was the difference in the game, as the Hornets (1-3) matched the home team for the final 45 minutes.

RECAP

Marymount scored just eight seconds into the game, before adding two more before the game was even six minutes old. Following the team's fourth goal of the game, the Saints added another pair in the final two minutes of the first, making it 6-0.

The hosts grabbed a 7-0 lead just over five minutes into the second, prior to Sam Poster putting SU on the board with 4:40 left on the clock in the first half. Poster added his second of the game early in the second half to make it 7-2. Still in the third, following a Marymont goal, a save by Jack Dwyer transitioned into Luke Petrie connecting with Xavier Parker for the third goal of the day for SU.

Petrie added the only mark of the fourth for SU as Marymount scored two more times to cap off its 10-4 win.

Kennedy Duda led the Hornets with three groundballs and three caused turnovers. Dwyer recorded 14 saves in net for SU.

UP NEXT

The Hornets head to Goucher next Tuesday for a non-conference clash at 4 p.m.
