Women's Lacrosse Cruises to Victory in ODAC Opener

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University earned its first conference win of the season with a 21-0 home victory over Eastern Mennonite University on Wednesday night at home.

The Hornets (3-0, 1-0 ODAC) had four players record three or more goals, while three players scored their first career goals in the rout of the Royals (0-4, 0-1).

RECAP

Shenandoah led 9-0 at the end of the first thanks to multiple goals from Ayla Jantz and Kaitlin Clements. The first quarter scoring was capped off with first-year Keira Choi finding the back of the net for the first time in her career.

Natalie Opatovsky got her first collegiate goal to put the Hornets up by double-digits just over three minutes into the second quarter. Cecelia Rock became the third Hornet of the evening to score for the first time in their career with SU's 13th goal of the game. By halftime SU had a 15-0 advantage.

Madison Perry started the third quarter in goal for the Hornets, making three early saves. The saves maintained the shutout for SU and helped them grab a 17-0 lead after tallies from Clements and Sarah Karlinchak.

Karlinchak added to her scorecard with a goal and an assist in the fourth quarter. Jantz also added her team-high fourth goal of the evening and Sofia Albi rounded out the night with SU's 21st goal. Jantz and Albi each had six points.

First-year goalie Erin Nash started the game for SU and earned her first career win.

Alex Ripkin and Lindsay McCrory tied for a team-high three draw controls.

UP NEXT

The Hornets host the University of Mary Washington this Saturday at 1 p.m.
