Women's Golf in 16th After Day One of Stith Invitational

RICHMOND, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's golf team began its time at the Stith Invitational hosted by Randolph-Macon College on Monday with the first two rounds of the tournament.

The Hornets are in 16th with a two-round score of 739 (+136). Shenandoah scored a 362 (+74) in the first round and concluded Monday with a team score of 377 (+89) for the second round.

Gaby Frick leads Shenandoah with a 178 (+34), which puts her tied for 72nd. Frick carded a 90 (+18) through her first go-around on the course and improved by two strokes for an 88 (+16) for her afternoon round. 

Erica Laurentino put a 97 (+25) on the scorecard in the first round and had an 11-stroke difference in her second round with an 86 (+14). Laurentino is currently 79th, while teammate Sophia Hansen is one spot behind her in 80th. Hansen had a 90 (+18) in the first and a 98 (+26) in her final round on Monday, highlighted by a birdie on hole nine on her second attempt.

Carley Westmoreland is in 83rd with a 195 (+51) on the scorecard and Cierra Bigelow currently sits in 84th with a 199 (+55). Bigelow had the first birdie of the day for the Hornets with one on hole 18 during the first round.

The Hornets conclude the tournament on Tuesday with their first tee time at 8 a.m.
