Women's Golf in Sixth After First Day at Camp Lejeune

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - The Shenandoah University women's golf team is in sixth place after the first round of the Camp Lejeune Women's Intercollegiate at the par-71, 5,505-yard Paradise Point Scarlet Course. The Hornets scored a 336 (+52), combining for 50 pars and three birdies.

Gaby Frick currently leads the way for the Hornets, scoring a 79 (+8) on Friday, which is the seventh-best round by a Hornet this season. Frick carded a birdie on the par-four hole nine and added one more on hole 15, also a par four. The first-year is tied for 11th overall in the field.

Amanda Dasher, playing as an individual, recorded a season-low 82 (+11). The junior recorded three straight pars on holes six through eight, while adding a streak of four on the first four holes of the back nine, tying for 20th.

Cierra Bigelow is tied for 25th with an 84 (+13), highlighted by a birdie and eight pars. Her birdie landed on hole 13, which is a 118-yard, par-three hole.

Sophia Hansen comes in next for SU with an 86 (+15), placing her tied for 32nd after the first day. Hansen made four pars on the front nine and two on the back nine.

Erica Laurentino is one shot behind Hansen with an 87 (+16) following the first 18 holes. The first-year made five pars overall on Friday and is in 36th.

Carley Westmoreland is sitting tied for 37th, scoring an 88 (+17), with five pars.

Alexa Strohman finished with an 89 (+18), putting her just inside the top 40, while playing as an individual. The sophomore had eight pars on Friday.
