Women's Golf Moves Up One Spot at Camp Lejeune

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - The Shenandoah University women's golf team moved up one spot into fifth place at the Camp Lejeune Women's Intercollegiate tournament at the Paradise Point Scarlet course.

The Hornets shot a 328 (+44) on Saturday, which is eight strokes better than their score from the first round. Overall, through the two rounds, SU is sitting at 664 (+96).

Cierra Bigelow led the charge for the Hornets on Saturday, scoring a 73 (+2), which pushes her up into the top 10, currently tied for seventh. Bigelow's score was helped out by back-to-back birdies on holes 16 and 17, with another birdie dropping on hole six.

Gaby Frick remains tied for 13th. On Saturday, the first-year shot an 82 (+11) with 10 pars, seven of which came on the back nine.

Sophia Hansen stayed consistent during round two, scoring an 86 (+15), which was her same score on Friday. Hansen is currently tied for 31st at 30-over par.

Erica Laurentino is in 36th after the first two days of competition, following an 87 (+16) on Saturday, highlighted by a birdie on hole 16.

Carely Westmoreland and Amanda Dasher each recorded an 88 (+17) for round two. Westmoreland made three pars on Saturday and is tied for 39th, while Dasher is playing as an individual and is tied for 29th. Dasher registered a birdie on hole seven, which was a par three.

Alexa Strohman finished Saturday with a 91 (+20), putting her tied for 44th. Strohman landed five pars on the front nine on Saturday.

UP NEXT

The Hornets tee off at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow for the final round of the tournament.
