LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team avenged a regular-season loss at the University of Lynchburg with a 14-6 win in the ODAC Quarterfinals on Tuesday, advancing to Friday's semifinals.
SU (12-7) had three players with a hat trick on Tuesday and held LYN (12-6) scoreless for the final quarter of the game. Goalie Maddie Gaboury made seven saves for SU in the tournament win.

Shenandoah's defense helped get them the first goal of the evening, following early caused turnovers by Lindsay McCrory and Nicole Graham. With a groundball from Addison Harmel, SU was able to transition down the field and get the opening goal from Natalie Opatovsky with an assist from Emily Ransom.
In the middle of the first quarter, Lynchburg responded with a pair of goals to take a 2-1 lead. Alyssa Webster won the draw control directly after Lyncbhurg's second goal, which allowed Shenandoah to tie the game with a goal from Harmel on an assist from Ayla Jantz.
In the early going of the second, Opatovsky picked up a free-position opportunity and made the most of it with the go-ahead goal, putting SU up 3-2. On the very next possession, Jantz added another goal for SU, doubling its lead. Each team added one more goal in the second quarter, with Jantz scoring for SU, giving them a 5-3 halftime lead.
Lynchburg tried its hardest to tie the game in the third quarter with two goals in the first seven minutes of the frame, but Ransom answered for Shenandoah with two goals to keep SU's lead at two, 7-5. With under four minutes remaining in the third, Cameryn Bowker connected with Jantz to put SU up 8-5. Shenandoah led 8-6 at the end of the third following a late goal by Lynchburg.
Less than a minute into the fourth, Ransom scored her third and final goal of the quarter to keep the momentum on SU's side of the field. Across the next ten minutes, Shenandoah poured on five more goals with markers from Bowker, Harmel, Jantz, Opatovsky, and Kaitlin Clements to complete the tournament win.
After being outshot in the first quarter, Shenandoah controlled the final three quarters of play, leading in shots, 30-23.Â
Shenandoah's defense caused 11 turnovers, with Talia Maria, Harmel, Graham, and McCrory each having two.
Offensively, SU was led by five-point nights from Ransom and Jantz.
