LYNCHBURG, Va. — The Shenandoah University women's tennis team traveled to Lynchburg on Saturday to compete at the Randolph College WildCat Invite. The Hornets faced tough competition across both doubles and singles play against host Randolph College (RC) and Bridgewater College (BW).

Doubles Play

Shenandoah kicked off action in Round 1 doubles at 10:00 AM. Samantha Calvert and Kendra Gillette set a winning tone early for the Hornets, picking up a 6-4 victory over Randolph's Amy Rigg and Maddie Mills. In the other opening doubles matchup, BW's Regan Witt and Olivia Eisenman topped Capri Blankenship and Emerie Meredith 6-1.

In Round 2 doubles at 10:45 AM, Randolph's Fleur Gaalman and Sophia Cahue claimed a 6-2 win over Calvert and Gillette, while BW's Cami Taylor and Brooke Hess took a 6-1 victory against SU's duo of Emerie Meredith and Lucy Goldman.

Singles Action

Round 1 singles began at 11:30 AM with Kendra Gillette earning a dominant 8-4 victory over Randolph's Lexi Carlsen. In other opening-round action, BW's Regan Witt defeated Lucy Goldman 6-0, 6-1, BW's Olivia Eisenman topped Capri Blankenship 6-0, 6-1, and Randolph's Grace Jacob edged out Emerie Meredith 7-5, 6-1.  In Round 2 singles at 12:30 PM, Mikayla Smith defeated Sam Calvert 1-6, 0-6. Kendra Gillette defeated Maddie Mills 3-8. Grace Jacob defeated Capri Blankenship 0-8.
