STAUNTON, Va. - The Shenandoah women's basketball team was able to stop their recent losing skid at two games with an 82-77 win over non-conference opponent Mary Baldwin Saturday afternoon.
The Hornets (2-3) shot a blistering 63.0 percent in the first half to take a commanding 12 point lead into halftime and led by as much as 20 in the second.
The Fighting Squirrels (0-5) were able to tie the game at 73-73 with 3:30 to play behind a barrage of three point buckets, but SU was able to keep their composure down the stretch to take the five point victory.
Sophomore Jenny Gray (Summerduck, Va./Liberty) led the Hornets on the day with a career high 23 points to go along with six assists while freshman Dee Fisher (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) added 13 points and Erika Bradd 10.

The women return home next Saturday when they host the Virginia Honey Shootout. Point Park will face Gallaudet in the first game at 1:00 and the Hornets will take on Lincoln at 3:00.
