CNU Pulls Away from SU Men

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. E The SU menís basketball team played No. 13 in the nation Christopher Newport University tough for 20 minutes Wednesday night, but CNU pulled away in the second half to take an 85-59 Dixie Conference victory. 

SU (9-9, 2-6) trailed by just five, 39-34, at intermission, but host CNU (17-2, 8-0) opened the final segment by scoring the first seven points and 21 of the first 25 to help them take a 60-39 lead with 13:40 remaining.

Juniors Chad Brashears (Hagerstown, Md./St. Maria Goretti) and Halston Camp (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) led SU with 14 points apiece with Camp pulling down a game high nine rebounds.

Jermaine Woods had 19 and Terry Gray 17 for the hosts.

Shenandoah hosts Averett University Saturday afternoon at 4:00 in the backend of a Dixie Conference doubleheader with the women.
