WINCHESTER, Va. - King's College used a three goal in 56 second spurt midway through the second quarter to propel the Monarchs to an 8-6 non-league men's lacrosse victory over host Shenandoah Wednesday night in a cold Shentel Stadium.
With the scored tied at 2-2 after Shenandoah's Keith Reynolds (Bear Mountain, N.Y./O'Neill) tallied off an assist from Elmer Baker (Fort Montgomery, N.Y./O'Neill) with 13:38 remaining in the first, King's (2-1) broke open the contest with four unanswered goals.Â
Three of these goals came from the 7:30 to the 6:34 marks of the second; SU (0-4) would get no closer than two goals the rest of the way.Â
Senior Jeff Paolozzi's (Brownville, N.Y./General Brown) goal at 13:45 of the fourth brought the hosts to within that two goal margin, but Chris Reilly scored 42 seconds later for King's and sealed the Hornets fate.Â
Carlo Ciotoli led the Monarchs with two goals and an assist while Ryan Thomas had three points on a goal and two assists. Goalkeeper Steve Matusiewicz had 16 saves to help preserve the victory.
Reynolds had three goals and Paolozzi two for Shenandoah. Paolozzi also won 9 of 13 face-offs.
