SALEM, Va. - Ferrum College held the SU softball team to a combined four hits in sweeping Shenandoah 13-1 and 20-0 in Dixie Conference softball action Sunday afternoon.
Shenandoah (0-11, 0-8) scored its only run in the first inning of game one. Caroline Crocker (Stanardsville, Va./William Monroe) drew a two-out walk, advanced to third on a double by Gina Riemenschneider (Winchester, Va./James Wood) and then scored on a passed ball.
It went downhill after that for the Hornets; Ferrum (13-4, 3-1) scored four runs in its half of the first and rolled to the 13-1 victory.
Stacy Porter no-hit SU in game two; she struck out nine and walked one in the five-inning gem.
