RALEIGH, N.C. - The softball team outhit Peace College 11-8 Saturday afternoon in the consolation round of the Meredith College Tournament, but the Pride still came out on top 6-3.
Peace (4-2) used three runs in the top of the first inning to grab a lead they would not relinquish against SU (0-3).
Freshman Gina Riemenschneider (Winchester, Va./James Wood) went 4 for 4 with an RBI while classmate Karen Hild (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) was 2 for 2, but the Hornets could get no closer than a 3-1 deficit after scoring their first run in the bottom of the second.
SU did score the final two runs of the game; Nikki Braithwaite (Winchester, Va./James Wood) doubled in Riemenschneider in the sixth and then Riemenschneider plated Hild with a single in the seventh.

Shenandoah is now off until hosting Christopher Newport in the Dixie Conference opener Saturday afternoon. The doubleheader starts at 1:00.
