Lacrosse Drops Third PAC Game

WINCHESTER, Va.- The men's lacrosse team came up short in its attempt to gain a first win of the season in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference this afternoon, falling to Wesley 15-8 at Shentel Stadium.

Wesley (2-5, 2-1) took a quick lead on a man-up goal by Pete Moran at the 12:40 mark in the first quarter and continued to pour it on with four more goals before the Hornets (2-6, 0-3) got a goal from senior Chris Keller (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg) with 37 seconds left in the first.

The two teams traded goals for most of the second period and SU found itself down 9-3 by the intermission.

The Hornets' play picked up in the final 30 minutes as the visitors were only able to outscore the hosts by only one, but the damage inflicted by the first quarter barrage was too much to overcome.

Sophomore Keith Reynolds (Bear Mountain, N.Y./O'Neill) led Shenandoah with three goals while Keller added two goals and an assist and junior Elmer Baker (Fort Montgomery, N.Y./O'Neill) netted two goals.

Unfortunately, this loss also eliminates SU from Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Tournament consideration. The Hornets are 0-3 in the league with three games left; the top four teams make the season ending tournament and all but one of the teams ahead of SU either have two PAC wins or hold the tie-breaking advantage due to a head-to-head victory.

Shenandoah travels to Catholic on Tuesday afternoon for a 4:00 game.
