Catholic Stops Men's Lax

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic University used a five-goal second period to help lift itself to a 14-6 non-league victory over visiting Shenandoah Tuesday afternoon.

Catholic (6-6) led 3-2 after the first period, but scored five of the remaining six goals tallied in the first half to take an 8-3 lead into the break. SU (2-7) further put itself in a hole by allowing CUA to score the only two goals in the first 15 minutes after halftime.

Catholic outshot Shenandoah 41-22 on the game, including 22-13 in the first half. The Cardinals also won 17 of 20 face-offs on the day.

James Hernandez (Blue Ridge Summit, Pa./HCC) led SU with two goals while Jeff Paolozzi (Brownville, NY/General Brown), Keith Reynolds (Bear Mountain, NY/O'Neill), Elmer Baker (Fort Montgomery, NY/O'Neill) and Chris Keller (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg) all had one goal.

All three Shenandoah goalies played in the game. Senior Dave Behan (Holtsville, NY/Sachem) had 10 saves in 30 minutes of action.
