RALEIGH, N.C. - The SU women's softball team earned a trip to the Meredith College Tournament championship game on Saturday afternoon with two wins in three games Friday in the round-robin portion of the tournament.

Shenandoah (2-3) will play host Meredith (5-1-1) for the championship after sandwiching 3-1 and 8-4 wins over Randolph Macon Woman's College and Mary Baldwin, respectively, around a 6-0 loss to Meredith.

The Hornets gave coach Michelle Manning her first win as a college coach in fine fashion as they opened the tournament with a 3-1 victory over Randolph Macon Woman's College. Sophomore Gina Riemenschneider (Winchester, Va./James Wood) gave her coach the first win of her college coaching career by tossing the first no-hitter in program history.

Riemenschneider struck out five and walked three in throwing the gem; she also scored the final run of the game on an Alicia Sanders (Wardensville, W. Va./East Hardy) single in the sixth inning.

The Hornets were held to just four hits in the second game, a 6-0 loss to host Meredith. SU then came back to qualify for the championship by doubling up Mary Baldwin College 8-4.

Shenandoah banged out a season high 13 hits in the win but needed a six-run fifth inning to break open a 2-2 contest. Freshmen Carrie Harris (Front Royal, Va./Warren County) and Melissa Landon (Goldsboro, Md./North Caroline) provided the offense in the frame with a two-run single and a two-run double, respectively.

Riemenschneider improved her record to 2-1 on the season with another complete game victory. She surrendered four runs on four hits and three walks while striking out one.
