Catholic Stings Men's Lacrosse

WINCHESTER, Va. - Catholic University scored the first 11 goals of the game Tuesday night to defeat homestanding Shenandoah University 17-4 in non-league men's lacrosse action.

Catholic (7-3) led 6-0 after one and held Shenandoah (2-5) to just one shot before James Hernandez (Blue Ridge Summit, Pa./HCC) got on the board for the Hornets with 4:27 to play in the first half.

Conor Kelly had all four of his goals during this run while Terence Kempf added three of his game high five goals. The Cardinals made this run by dominating possession; they won 10 of 14 first-half faceoffs and grabbed 22 of 35 groundballs.

Kempf led all scorers with six points, Justin Kelly chipped in two goals and three assists and Conor Kelly had four goals.

SU goalkeeper J.D. Killian (Stafford, Va./North Stafford) made 10 saves in the losing effort. Three Catholic goalies combined to stop seven shots.
