SALEM, Va. - Shenandoah University returned to the softball diamond for the first time in 10 days Wednesday afternoon, but the return wasn't positive as Ferrum College swept a USA South Conference doubleheader with 4-0 and 7-2 victories.

Tana Bartek had two of the Hornets (4-8, 1-7 USA South) hits in game one, but the Lady Panthers (12-9, 2-4 USA South) broke open a close game with a three-run sixth.

Alyssa Chapman (2-3) took the loss after giving up four runs on eight hits and one walk in six innings of action.
Ferrum left little doubt in game two; the hosts scored at least one run in every inning but the third in completing the sweep. SU had six hits in the nightcap withÂ

Bartek (1-3) took the loss despite yielding just a single earned run in four innings of work.Â
