SALEM, Va. - Shenandoah University returned to the softball diamond for the first time in 10 days Wednesday afternoon, but the return wasn't positive as Ferrum College swept a USA South Conference doubleheader with 4-0 and 7-2 victories.

Freshman Tana Bartek had two of the Hornets (4-8, 1-7 USA South) hits in game one, but the Lady Panthers (12-9, 2-4 USA South) broke open a close game with a three-run sixth.

Freshman Alyssa Chapman (2-3) took the loss after giving up four runs on eight hits and one walk in six innings of action.

Ferrum left little doubt in game two; the hosts scored at least one run in every inning but the third in completing the sweep. SU had six hits in the nightcap with Teresa Prezzy, Kristin Windle and Carrie Harris each getting two. Windle also drove in one of the Hornets two runs in the contest.

Bartek (1-3) took the loss despite yielding just a single earned run in four innings of work. Catelyn Renninger gave up the final three runs on five hits after taking over in the bottom of the fifth.
