RALEIGH, N.C. - No. 8 Shenandoah University eliminated fourth seeded NC Wesleyan from the 2005 USA South Conference softball tournament Friday night with a 3-2 victory.

For Shenandoah (10-20), it was the program's first USA South Tournament victory since the 2000 season. SU had lost eight consecutive games at the tournament since defeating Greensboro 6-3 on the second day of the 2000 tourney.

After Wesleyan (18-15) had taken a 2-1 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth inning, the Hornets answered back with a pair of their own in the bottom of the frame.

Freshman Jessica Bollinger tripled in Sheryl Wilson, who had reached on a fielder's choice that retired Kristin Windle. One batter later, winning pitcher Tana Bartek (3-8) helped herself out by plating Bollinger with a single.

Bartek gave up two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four.

Bollinger led the offense with two hits in three at-bats - she also drove in Shenandoah's first run with a third inning single.
