SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Cazenovia College scored in the waning moments of both regulation and overtime Saturday afternoon to steal a 20-19 non-conference men's lacrosse victory over visiting Shenandoah.

Cazenovia (3-9) scored with 59 seconds to play in regulation to tie the game at 19-19 and then got a Mike Miakisz goal with just one second to play in the sudden death overtime to defeat Shenandoah (4-8).

SU had jumped out to a 7-3 after one, 10-6 at the break and 16-11 heading into the fourth only to see the Wildcats tie it with eight of the game's final 11 goals in regulation. The last, an unassisted goal by Mike Malfitano, sent the game into the extra session.

The Hornets had six players score at least three points in the game, with freshman Stephen Mayor tallying a game-high eight on seven goals and one assist. Sophomore Martin Carlson had one goal and six assists while midfielders Ben Page and Sam Johnson each had four goals.

Cazenovia outshot its visitors 54-44, including 7-0 in the four-minute extra session. Shenandoah did win the groundball battle 69-48 and won 28 of 39 face-offs.

Hornets keeper Mark Verrilli made 15 saves in the losing effort.

Complete statistics will be available later Saturday evening.

SU wraps up its 2005 regular season Saturday afternoon at Neumann College. If the Hornets win this Pennsylvania Athletic Conference game, they will qualify for the four-team PAC Tournament for the first time ever.
