Cabrini Runs by Men's Lax

WINCHESTER, Va. - Cabrini College used a strong second quarter to pull away from host Shenandoah and 18-3 in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference men's lacrosse contest.

Shenandoah (2-4, 1-1 PAC) found itself tied at the end of one after sophomore Martin Carlson scored an unassisted goal with 54 seconds remaining in the period.

Unfortunately for SU, Cabrini (5-3, 3-0 USA South) scored seven of the eight goals in the second period and took a 7-2 lead into the halftime lockerroom.

With the score 3-2 CC after Stephen Mayor tallied off of a Carlson assist at the 8:32 mark, the Cavaliers scored four times in a span of 4:07 to take the 7-2 lead by the 2:00 mark.

Cabrini scored the first five goals of the third, and cruised to the 15-goal victory.

Mark Phillips led all scorers with four goals while Paul Middleton, Dave Barba, Matt Campbell, Paul Archambault and Dennis Valerio all had two.

Carlson led the Hornets with one goal and one assist for two points. 

CC took 48 of the game's 61 shots and also had a 60-41 advantage in groundballs.

SU keeper John Schaefer had 11 saves in just over 37 minutes of action.
