STAUNTON, Va. - Freshman Jessica Bollinger had combined nine RBI Thursday afternoon to lead visiting Shenandoah to 6-5 and 14-7 non-conference softball victories at Mary Baldwin.

Bollinger was 1 for 4 with an RBI double in game one and then exploded for eight runs batted in on three hits in the nightcap. Included in this total was a fifth inning grand slam that sealed the victory for SU (7-13).

Fellow freshman Catelyn Renninger went the distance in the pitching circle in game one - she struck out seven and gave up just one earned run on five hits and two walks to improve to 2-3 on the spring.

The Squirrels (5-18) had the tying run in scoring position with one out in the opener, but Renninger induced a fielder's choice and then got Janice Udy to ground to short to end the game.

SU led game two 8-7 as it headed to the fifth, and broke the contest open with six runs on three hits and two MBC errors. After freshman Tana Bartek (1-5) struck out the side in the bottom of the inning, the game was called due to darkness.

Teresa Prezzy got the fifth inning rally going with an RBI single to center and after Kristin Windle reached on a fielder's choice that retired Renninger at the plate, Bollinger stepped into the batter's box.

Bollinger crushed her first ever home run over the leftfield fence, capping her day with her third extra base hit of the afternoon and giving the Hornets the 13-7 advantage.

Bartek struck out six to earn her first collegiate victory.
