Softball Gets Second Straight Sweep

SWEET BRIAR, Va. - Shenandoah University got its second straight softball sweep Saturday afternoon - the Hornets defeated Sweet Briar 13-2 and 7-0 in non-conference action.

Shenandoah (9-13) banged out a nine hits in the game one victory before posting its second shutout of the year in the nightcap.

Freshman Jessica Bollinger got it done in the opener with a 2 for 3 performance that included three runs scored. She had just one hit in the second game, but made it count with a solo shot to lead off the seventh inning.

Sophomore Alicia Sanders, who re-joined the team earlier in the week, was 2 for 4 in game two.

Freshman Tana Bartek (2-5) threw a two-hitter in getting her first ever shutout in that second game - she struck out 10 and walked just one.

Bartek's classmate, Catelyn Renninger, had four strikeouts in earning the game one victory. She gave up just three hits to improve to 3-3 on the spring.

Shenandoah completes USA South Conference regular season play Sunday afternoon with a 1:00 doubleheader against Christopher Newport University.
