FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Methodist College held visiting Shenandoah to just a combined seven hits Monday afternoon to sweep a USA South Conference softball doubleheader from the Hornets.
Methodist (16-4, 4-0 USA South) held SU (3-9, 1-3) to four hits in game two after allowing just three in the opener.

Catherine Beuerle each had one hit in both ends of the twinbill with Beuerle knocking a double in the nightcap.
Shenandoah got its only run of the afternoon in the second inning of game two. With one out, third baseman
Tana Bartek was hit by a pitch and following a foul out, raced home when freshman
Kristen Templetondoubled to left center.
MC answered that run with three runs in the bottom of the frame, added two more in the third, three in the fourth and two in the fifth to end the contest via the NCAA mercy rule.
Bartek took the loss in game one and freshman
Katie Haskins in the nightcap. Bartek (1-3) gave up four runs on 10 hits and two walks in 3 1/3 while Haskins (2-4) allowed 10 runs (five earned) on 11 hits and three walks in 4 1/3. Haskins also struck out four.
