FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The University of Mary Washington celebrated its softball senior day Tuesday afternoon by sweeping visiting Shenandoah 3-2 and 6-2 in non-league action.
Mary Washington (26-14) banged out nine hits in game one and six in the nightcap to down the Hornets (14-25).Â
Tied 2-2 after Shenandoah scored a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning in game one, the Eagles pushed across the game-winner in the bottom of the fifth on an unearned run. Cathy Hull was hit by a pitch two batters into the frame, advanced to second and third on a sacrifice and fielder's choice, and then came home on Erin Rantz' 45th career double.Â

Alicia Sanders , who was named to the USA South Conference All-Tournament team over the weekend, scored the first run of the frame on third baseman Ashley Sifer's two base error.
