WINCHESTER, Va. - Alvernia College scored the final two goals of the game to rally for a 9-8 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference men's lacrosse win in overtime over host Shenandoah University Tuesday night.
The Crusaders (2-11, 1-3 PAC) got the game-winner with 33 seconds remaining in the first OT when Tom Novak drove right from behind the cage and stuffed his shot past Shenandoah (2-9, 1-4) keeperÂ
Mark Verrilli.
Novak's tally allowed AC to redeem itself after giving away a four-goal lead in a span of 24:57. Holding a took a 7-3 lead by scoring the first goal of the second half, Alvernia saw its hosts precede to reel off the next five goals of the contest.

The game remained that way until SU turned the ball over in its offensive end with 2:21 remaining. The Crusaders cleared the ball quickly, getting the ball to Tom Fraker where he carried it into the offensive zone and beat Verrilli with a bounce shot.
AC won the ensuing face-off and called time out to set up a possible game-winner, but Verrilli stoned Sean Cullen on the doorstep.Â
The Hornets called timeout with 20 seconds showing to set up their own play, but had a first shot go wide and then see Chris Kanauss saveÂ
Ben Page's shot as time expired.
Alvernia won the face-off to start the extra period and drew a 30-second penalty 41 seconds in, but did not get the final possession until Kanauss came up with a doorstep save of his own with 1:36 left.
Awarded possession after a loose-ball push, the Crusaders worked the ball behind to Novak for his game-winning dodge.
Fraker led all scorers with five goals while Novak and Ryan Fries had two each. Mayor, Page andÂ

SU took 45 shots to its visitors 32 and scooped up 52 groundballs to the Crusaders 43.
Kanauss had 15 saves and Verrilli 10.
