BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Shenandoah University was held to a combined six hits in dropping its final softball doubleheader of the season Tuesday afternoon.

Bridgewater College (34-9) took game one 10-0 in five innings before winning the nightcap 5-0. SU (15-28) had four of its six hits in that second game.

BC got all of the runs it would need in the opener with four runs in the first and two more in the second off sophomore Tana Bartek (6-12). Bartek gave way to classmate Catelyn Renninger after Bartek gave up a two-run home run to Lindsay Ware with no outs in the second.

Renninger allowed four more runs (two earned) on three hits in the final three innings of action.

Freshmen Catherine Beuerle and Ashley Ballentine had a double and a single, respectively, in the fifth inning to break up the no-hit bid by Lisa Rhodes (12-3).

The Eagles wasted no time in the nightcap as well – they scored two runs in the first to take a lead against freshman Katie Haskins (9-12) that they would not relinquish.

Shenandoah managed a third inning single by freshman Mandy Reedbefore loading the bases one inning later, but BC pitcher Marlo Powell (13-5) induced a home to first double play to end the threat.

Reed finished the game 2-for-2 while Beuerle and Haskins each had one hit.
