WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University rallied for a game one victory before Mary Baldwin used a strong start to win the nightcap of a non-conference softball doubleheader Thursday afternoon.
Shenandoah (12-18) won game one, 5-4, in eight innings before the Fighting Squirrels (13-14) took game two 7-4. MBC scored two runs in the first and three more in the second to seize the early lead in that second contest.
Mary Baldwin also had an early lead in the opener - they scored two runs in its first at-bat and led by that 2-0 margin until the bottom of the fourth inning. In that frame, freshmanÂ

Alicia Sanders'Â first home run of the season.
Sanders, who finished the day 3-for-3 with three RBI, hit the inside-the-park home run by knocking the Denise Micheal offering over MBC rightfielder Janice Udy and to the fence. Sanders drew a throw to the plate, but scored easily.
The two teams traded runs in the sixth before Mary Baldwin going scoreless in the seventh. In the eighth, the Fighting Squirrels scored one run on one hit before SU won it in the bottom of the frame.
Placed runnerÂ
Kristin Windle advanced to third on leadoff hitterÂ
Jessica Bollinger's double to right and tied the game when Templeton singled to center. The game ended one batter later when Sanders rapped an infield single that plated Bollinger.
