WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University got its first-ever women's soccer victory over Bridgewater College with a 2-1 overtime win Friday afternoon in the first game of the Shenandoah University Shootout.
FreshmanÂ
Jen Stoup ran down a through pass from sophomoreÂ
Katie Bowers, dribbled into the 18-yard box and slipped her shot past Eagles keeper Meghan Jarrell for the game-winner three minutes into overtime.Â
The win is the first for Shenandoah (1-0) in three lifetime meetings with the Eagles (0-1). The two teams had battled to a 2-2 tie in the season opener last year.
SU opened the game's scoring in the 20th minute when freshmanÂ

Jesilynn Knight's shot and knocked her attempt past the diving Jarrell.Â
Bridgewater tied it seven minutes into the second on a Carrie Lamond finish of a Sarah Tritsch cross, and outshot its hosts 11-9, but were turned away eight times by Hornets keeperÂ
Lauren Elliott.
