WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University posted its fifth straight men's basketball victory Saturday afternoon with an 84-74 non-league win over Lycoming College.

Shenandoah (6-1) now can match its 2006-07 win total with a victory over longtime rival Frostburg State Monday night.

The Hornets earned their second victory in five lifetime meetings with Lycoming (4-2) with a stellar performance at the free throw line.

Shenandoah was 30 of 38 (78.9 percent) from the line, which was the fifth most successful foul shots in school history and the seventh most attempts.

The Warriors committed 29 fouls on the day and were only able to get themselves to the line nine times.

LC scored the first bucket of the game, and the game was tied on two occasions, but SU took the lead for good on an Onyie Onunaku bucket at the 17:52 mark of the first.

Shenandoah took a 41-28 lead into the halftime lockerroom, and after weathering a 9-0 Lyco run to start the second, led by at least six points for the remainder of the contest.

SU was able to keep its lead in double digits for most of the second half until Lycoming scored four straight points from the 1:22 to 1:01 marks to cut it to 77-71 with 61 seconds remaining.

However, Shenandoah had an answer - they hit seven of its final eight foul shots to seal the victory.

Junior Lenzie Adams led five players in double figures with 16 points while classmate Lamar Bentley had 15, Jeremiah Lawrence 13 and Onunaku 11 with nine boards.

Greg Sye had 14 points for LC. He was one of six players in double figures for the visitors.
