WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University is 2-0 in men's lacrosse for just the second time in school history after downing visiting Oberlin 10-7 Saturday afternoon in a non-league contest.
The Hornets can tie the 2000 team for the best start in school history with a win Tuesday night against Mt. St. Joseph.
Shenandoah got off to a fast start against Oberlin (0-2) - SU scored seven of the game's first eight goals but had to hold on as the Yeomen made a strong comeback in the second half.
Holding a 10-4 halftime lead after scoring two goals in the final 11 seconds of the second period, the Hornets saw OC register four of the game's next five goals to make it 11-8 Shenandoah with 7:26 to play.
Although Oberlin was able to close out the game's scoring with goals at 42 and 15 seconds, aÂ
Sam Johnson man-up tally at the 1:19 mark sealed the win for the hosts.

Teddy Rogers and Johnson all had three goals with Rogers adding an assist and a game-high 10 groundballs. SU won that battle 46-38.
Hornets juniorÂ
Stephen Mayor was shutout for the first time in his career as the Yeomen employed long stick defender Erik Kojola to shut the 2007 pre-season All-American off. Mayor got off just one shot as Kojola largely prevent him from touching the ball all afternoon.
SU goalieÂ
Michael O'Brien had 12 saves with his counterpart, Drew Zambelli, registering 15.
Tim Dustin had three goals and Erik Strand two with one assist for the visitors.
