ASHLAND, Va. - Randolph-Macon kept visiting Shenandoah University winless on its young softball season with 2-1 and 7-4 non-league victories Sunday afternoon.
R-MC (7-0) scored the winning run on three hits in the fourth inning of game one before seizing control of game two with five runs in the first two innings.
Shenandoah (0-4) got back into the nightcap with two runs of its own in the top of the second, but a two-run rally in the seventh left the Hornets just short.

Catherine Beuerle was a combined 3-for-6 in the doubleheader including a 2-for-4 performance in the nightcap.
Jessica Robertson was 2-for-3 in game two and drove in two of the teams runs with a second inning single.

Katie Haskins (0-2) took the game one loss after allowing two runs on six hits and two walks. FreshmanÂ
AJ Lekki (0-2) threw a complete game as well - she allowed the seven runs (five earned) on eight hits and four walks. She struck out four.
