DALLAS, Pa. - Shenandoah University qualified for the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Tournament Wednesday night with a 9-8 victory at College Misericordia.
The win assures Shenandoah (9-2, 5-1 PAC) of no worse than a No. 3 seed at next week's PAC Tournament. SU hosts undefeated Cabrini in Saturday's regular season finale and would claim at least a share of the regular season title with a victory over the Cavaliers.
If Cabrini wins that Saturday contest and Wesley, who is currently tied with Shenandoah for second place in the league, defeats Alvernia, the Hornets will travel to Wesley on Wednesday for a PAC semi-final round game.
SeniorÂ
Justin Ratcliff had a game-high six goals in the victory over Misericordia (7-6, 2-4), including the game-winner. Just under five minutes into the fourth quarter, Ratcliff finished a feed from juniorÂ
Teddy Rogers to give SU a 9-5 lead.
The Cougars made a furious comeback by scoring the final three goals of the game, but could not get the equalizer.
Misericordia outshot the Hornets 47-29 for the game, but Shenandoah freshman Michael O'Brien made 22 saves to help his team qualify for the PAC Tournament for the second time in three years.
In addition to Ratcliff's six goals,Â
Stephen Mayor added two with one assist andÂ
Sam Johnson one goal. Rogers had another assist in addition to the game-winner, and also scooped up three groundballs. SU had a 26-18 advantage in that category and won 11 of 21 face-offs.
