HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Shenandoah University softball
team completed its week Sunday afternoon by dropping non-league
doubleheader at Eastern Mennonite University.
The Hornets (9-7) lost 2-0 in the opener before EMU (9-6) was a
7-1 victor in the nightcap.
Shenandoah scored its only run of the day in the seventh inning
of game two when junior Renoula
Jones plated Shatora
Lane on a groundout.
Lane had opened the frame by drawing a base on balls.
Freshman Amanda
Litwin (5-3) was the losing pitcher after allowing six runs
(five earned) on nine hits and two walks in 4 2/3 innings. She had
three strikeouts before Ashley
Stegemiller took over midway through the fifth.
Sophomore Brooke
Over (4-4) struck out six in the opener and allowed just seven
hits, but EMU pitcher Nicole Wade held the Hornets to only three
singles in the shutout victory.
Senior Lauren
Wall was a combined 2 for 5 on the day.
SU is back in action on Wednesday at Mary Washington in a
non-league doubleheader.
