HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Shenandoah University softball team completed its week Sunday afternoon by dropping non-league doubleheader at Eastern Mennonite University.

The Hornets (9-7) lost 2-0 in the opener before EMU (9-6) was a 7-1 victor in the nightcap.

Shenandoah scored its only run of the day in the seventh inning of game two when junior Renoula Jones plated Shatora Lane on a groundout.

Lane had opened the frame by drawing a base on balls.

Freshman Amanda Litwin (5-3) was the losing pitcher after allowing six runs (five earned) on nine hits and two walks in 4 2/3 innings. She had three strikeouts before Ashley Stegemiller took over midway through the fifth.

Sophomore Brooke Over (4-4) struck out six in the opener and allowed just seven hits, but EMU pitcher Nicole Wade held the Hornets to only three singles in the shutout victory.

Senior Lauren Wall was a combined 2 for 5 on the day.

SU is back in action on Wednesday at Mary Washington in a non-league doubleheader.
