FERRUM, Va. - Shenandoah University earned a split of its USA South Conference tennis matches at Ferrum College Wednesday afternoon.

The SU women were 9-0 victors while the Hornet men fell 8-1.

Two of the matches for the men (2-6, 0-2 USA South) went to three sets. Michael Milanov lost 6-1, 5-7, 4-10 at No. 1 while Mo Safren won 6-1, 2-6, 10-8 at No. 5.

The Shenandoah women (4-3, 1-1) made quick work of their match as SU dropped just five total games in sweeping the three doubles matches.

The Hornets continued the domination in singles, clinching it with straight set victories at 1, 2, 4 and 6.

With the victory assured, the matches at Nos. 3 and 6 were played at single, pro-set matches.

Sophomore Briana Malley paced the win with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles after combining with Denise Myrick to win 8-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Both teams are back in action Friday at Randolph College.
