FERRUM, Va. - Shenandoah University earned a split of its USA
South Conference tennis matches at Ferrum College Wednesday
afternoon.
The SU women were 9-0 victors while the Hornet men fell
8-1.
Two of the matches for the men (2-6, 0-2 USA South) went to
three sets. Michael Milanov lost
6-1, 5-7, 4-10 at No. 1 while Mo Safren won 6-1, 2-6,
10-8 at No. 5.
The Shenandoah women (4-3, 1-1) made quick work of their match
as SU dropped just five total games in sweeping the three doubles
matches.
The Hornets continued the domination in singles, clinching
it with straight set victories at 1, 2, 4 and 6.
With the victory assured, the matches at Nos. 3 and 6 were
played at single, pro-set matches.
Sophomore Briana
Malley paced the win with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1
singles after combining with Denise Myrick to
win 8-1 at No. 2 doubles.
Both teams are back in action Friday at Randolph College.
