WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University snapped its two-match
USA South Conference women's tennis losing streak with a 7-2 win
over visiting Mary Baldwin Tuesday afternoon.
Shenandoah (5-5, 2-3 USA South) jumped out to a 4-0 lead by
winning the Nos. 1, 2, 4 and 6 singles matches.
After the Fighting Squirrels (1-8, 1-5) got three-set
victories at Nos. 3 and 5 singles, SU clinched the match with an
8-0 win from Aliisa Altau and
Brittany
Bascope at No. 2 doubles.
Bascope was a double winner for the Hornets as she and sophomore
Briana
Malley won the top two singles matches for the Hornets at
love.
The singles matches were played first due to the weather
forecast.
Shenandoah is back on the court on Friday at Peace College.
