BURLINGTON, N.C. – Third-seeded Christopher Newport
University ended Shenandoah University's women's tennis
season with an 8-1 win in the USA South Tournament quarterfinals
Friday morning.
CNU (18-2) took the early lead with 8-2 and 8-1 wins at Nos. 1
and 3 doubles, respectively.
Shenandoah (7-9) kept things close by getting an 8-5 victory
from Brittany Bascope and Aliisa Altau at No. 2 doubles, but could
get no closer.
The Captains clinched the match by winning the Nos. 1, 2, 5 and
6 singles matches in straight sets. The final two matches, at Nos.
3 and 4 singles, were then played as pro-sets because the outcome
was decided.
