WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Hood College downed Shenandoah University 7-2 in non-league women's tennis action Saturday evening.
Hood (2-2) avenged a fall season loss with the victory over the short-handed Hornets (2-2).
SU was a 5-4 winner over the Blazers in the October 9 fall finale.
Playing with just four players and thus giving up points at Nos. 5 and 6 singles and No. 3 doubles, the Hornets found the match decided after Hood took a pair of 8-3 victories in the top two doubles matches.
The women did not yield, however, coming back to split the four contested singles matches by winning at Nos. 1 and 4.
Freshman Carla Wong was a 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 victor in the top singles match before classmate Kelsey Brewster won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4.
Shenandoah is back in action on Friday evening with a 7 p.m. match against Division II Shippensburg.
