WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Southern Virginia kept its women's tennis record unblemished Tuesday afternoon with a 6-3 non-league victory over Shenandoah.
Despite having to forfeit two singles and one doubles match, Shenandoah (2-3) was fighting until the end in its match with SVU (5-0).
The Hornets split the remaining two doubles matches as Carla Wong and Briana Malley defeated Rebekah Reid and Brynn McGinn 8-4 at No. 1.
Wong made it 2 for 2 on the day, taking out Rachel Reid 6-2, 6-2 in the top singles match.
Shenandoah's final victory came at No. 4 singles, where Kelsey Brewster was a 6-2, 6-0 winner over Brittany Gibbons.
Wong and Brewster each run their respective singles records to 5-0 with the two wins.
SU returns to the courts on Friday for its conference opener at Averett.
