WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's and women's tennis teams split a pair of matches on a perfect Thursday afternoon.

The SU women (5-4, 2-2) swept Mary Baldwin 9-0 in a USA South Conference match while the Hornet men (0-9) fell 9-0 in a non-league tilt versus Southern Virginia.

The women took a 3-0 lead after doubles thanks to a comeback victory from Kayla Green and Ilana Rozin at No. 2.

Green and Rozin found themselves trailing 1-6 before roaring back to win 9-8 (7-2) and secure the third point of the contest.

Rachel Gross won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 before Carla Wong clinched the win with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 1.

Kelsey Brewster won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5 before Shannon Allin rallied for a 4-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-5) victory at No. 2.

With the match clinched, Green and Rozin both won 10-1 at Nos. 3 and 6, respectively, in 10-game Pro Sets.

The SU men were swept, but had two matches go to a third set tiebreak in singles.

Dustin DeMello fell 6-1, 3-6, 0-1 (1-10) at No. 1 and Vladimir Daskalov 6-4, 4-6, 0-1 (12-14) at No. 2.

Those two men also lost 8-4 at No. 1 doubles.

Southern Virginia improved to 9-1 with the men's victory and Mary Baldwin remains winless at 0-7, 0-5 following the USA South women's loss.

The Shenandoah women play at Peace on Saturday before both teams take on Methodist in Fayettteville, N.C. on Sunday.
