WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's tennis team earned its second win in as many outings this spring with a 7-2 non-conference victory over Hood College Saturday evening.
The Hornets (2-0) started the match with a 2-0 lead as Hood (1-4) defaulted at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
Shenandoah then split the remaining two doubles matches as Rachel Gross and Amber Lake were 8-3 winners at No. 2.
Needing just two wins in the singles to clinch the match, SU received victories in the Nos.2-5 matches to seal the victory.
Gross and Lake were both double winners on the evening with Gross winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 and Lake 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5.
Molly Barb, at No. 2 singles, had the final contested victory of the evening. She was a 7-5, 6-4 victor over Olivia Hosch.
Shenandoah is off until hosting Randolph in its ODAC opener on March 2. This will be the squad's initial outdoor match of the spring as well.
