GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Shenandoah University men's and women's tennis teams completed spring break play Saturday afternoon with a pair of ODAC losses at Guilford.
The SU men (2-5, 0-4 ODAC) fell 6-3 to the Quakers (5-4, 3-2) while the Hornet women (3-5, 0-5) fell 9-0.
The closest women's match came at No. 1, where freshman Molly Barb dropped a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) decision to Haley Andrews.
In doubles, Rachel Gross and Amber Lake battled to an 8-5 loss at No. 3.
The men got victories at No. 1 doubles and Nos. 4 and 6 singles.
Steven Baker and Jeremy Parel got the Hornets on the board with a 8-4 victory over Erik Meiler and Charlie Smith in the top doubles match.
Both singles victories came in three sets.
Dustan DeMello, at No. 4, battled back from a 3-6 loss in the second set to win the supertiebreaker 12-10 and take the match.
He won the opening set 6-4.
Will Leach, at No. 6, also won his opening set 6-4 and then was forced into the supertiebreaker with a 2-6 loss in the second.
Leach dispatched Byron Hamilton 10-5 in that tiebreak.
The women are back in action Wednesday at Washington and Lee. The men also take on the Generals, but will wait until Saturday for that ODAC matchup.
