EMORY, Va. - Host Emory & Henry halted the Shenandoah University women's tennis team's winning streak at three matches with a 7-2 victory over the Hornets Saturday afternoon.
Shenandoah (6-8, 1-8 ODAC) had been seeking its fourth straight win, and second straight in the league, but ran into a tough E&H squad.
The Wasps (8-10, 3-70 took a 2-1 lead after doubles thanks to wins at No. 1 and 3 before clinching the match with victories in five of six singles contests.
Freshman Amber Lake was the lone singles winner, downing Sheyenne Cleveland 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4.
Lake was a double winner on the day as she had previously combined with Rachel Gross to win 8-2 at No. 2 doubles.
SU hosts Randolph on Sunday in a 1:00 ODAC matchup.
