WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's tennis team completed its spring 2013 season Wednesday afternoon with an 8-1 ODAC victory over Lynchburg College.
Shenandoah (7-9, 2-9 ODAC) led 2-0 before stepping on the court as LC (1-13, 0-11) defaulted at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles.
Playing singles first, SU then clinched the match with wins in the Nos. 3, 4 and 5 singles contests.
Freshman Amy Rapp, a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Madison Dixon at No. 3, had the match-clinching win.
Shenandoah swept the singles with all but the victory at No. 2 coming in straight sets.
In that match, freshman Molly Barb was a 6-0, 4-6, 6-2 victor over Betsy Stipa.
Shannon Allin, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1, Rachel Gross, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 and Amber Lake, 6-0, 6-3, rounded out the singles winners.
The two teams split the doubles with Allin and Barb winning 8-6 at No. 1 for SU.
Shenandoah finished the year by winning three of its final five matches.
