WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's tennis team extended its winning streak to four matches Saturday with a 7-2 victory over Guilford.
Shenandoah (5-1, 1-1 ODAC) had taken a 2-1 lead after doubles thanks to 8-4 and 8-2 victories at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, only to see Guilford (4-5, 3-3) tie the match at 2-2 thanks to a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles.
The Hornets then clinched the match by winning the remaining five singles matches, including the top two in three sets.
Sophomore Amber Lake had the match-clinching win with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Nora Porkosch at No. 5.
Molly Barb was a 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 victor at No. 1 and Shannon Allin 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 in the final two matches of the day.
Amy Rapp and Caitlin Tilton were both double winners. After combining for a 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles, Rapp won 6-3, 7-5 at No. 3 singles and Tilton 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6.
SU hosts Emory and Henry on Sunday in another ODAC match.
