WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University earned its 10th women's tennis win of the season Thursday with a 7-2 ODAC victory over Sweet Briar.
Shenandoah (10-3, 5-3 ODAC) took a 3-0 lead after the doubles by sweeping all three matches 8-2.
After the Vixens (5-11, 3-7) briefly made matters interesting with wins at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, the Hornets swept the bottom four matches to secure the victory.
Rachel Gross, at No. 3, had the match-clinching win with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Gina Rutledge.
Amber Lake won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4 after combining with Gross at No. 2 doubles.
Caitlin Tilton was the other double winner, finishing off Georgia Kirkland 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles after she and Amy Rapp had won at No. 3 doubles.
The 10 overall wins ties the 2002-03 team for the second-best win total in program history.
The 2006-07 team has the program record with 12 wins.
Shenandoah hosts Randolph-Macon on Saturday at 1:00 in another ODAC match.
