WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's tennis team opened its 2014 fall season up Saturday with a number of notable performances at its own invitational.
Coach Larry Hubbard's club hosted ODAC rival Bridgewater, as well as Elizabethtown and
Division II West Virginia Wesleyan in a flighted tournament that featured eight levels of doubles play and four of singles.
Junior Amy Rapp led SU on day one of the two-day event by downing Bridgewater's Leanne Smithers 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4.
The players were scheduled to play two singles matches and one doubles match Saturday.
Play was temporarily halted during the final singles match of the day due to a passing rain shower.
Complete day one results will be posted Saturday evening.
The tournament concludes Sunday with two doubles matches and one singles match scheduled for each player.
