HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Shenandoah University women's tennis team continued its spring break trip Wednesday afternoon with a 7-2 non-league victory over Marietta.
After Marietta (1-4) took a 2-1 lead following the doubles thanks to wins Nos. 1 and 3, Shenandoah (4-1) roared back by sweeping the six singles matches.
Junior Molly Barb, who combined with Amber Lake to win 8-2 at No. 2 doubles, got the singles started with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1.
Amy Rapp won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 to give SU its first lead before Jeannella Williams won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 to put the Hornets one victory from clinching.
Senior Shannon Allin got that clinching victory, winning 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 to close out the match.
Caitlin Tilton was a 6-1, 6-1 victor at No. 5 before Lake won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 6 to provide the final margin of victory.
Shenandoah completes spring break play on Saturday at 2 p.m. with an ODAC match at Guilford.
