Women's Tennis Tops Quakers

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Shenandoah University women's tennis team ran its winning streak to three matches Saturday afternoon with a 7-2 ODAC victory at Guilford.

Forced indoors to the Piedmont Tennis Center due to heavy rains, the Hornets (5-1, 2-1 ODAC) shook off two losses in the three doubles matches with a sweep in singles over Guilford (2-2, 0-2).

Trailing 2-1 after getting an 8-1 victory from Amy Rapp and Caitlin Tilton at No. 3 doubles, SU stormed back by winning the six singles matches in straight sets.

Rapp and Tilton completed their perfect days with 6-2, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1 victories at Nos 4 and 5 singles, respectively, while Molly Barb was a 6-4, 6-4 winner at No. 1 and Shannon Allin 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2.

Jeannella Williams, with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Fernanda Gonzalez at No. 3, had the match-clinching win.

Amber Lake completed the sweep with a win at love over Luci Gordon at No. 6.

Shenandoah hosts Southern Virginia on Wednesday at 3:30 in a non-league match.
