VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Shenandoah University earned its first ODAC victory of the 2015 season Monday afternoon with a 5-4 win at Virginia Wesleyan.
Shenandoah (3-1, 1-1 ODAC) found itself down 2-1 to the Marlins (0-2, 0-2) following the doubles portion of the event, but rallied for the win by taking the No. 2 and Nos. 4-6 singles matches.
After Amy Rapp and Caitlin Tilton got the Hornets on the board with an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles, senior Shannon Allin was a 6-1, 6-1 victor at No. 2 singles to put SU within striking distance.
Rapp, Tilton and Amber Lake then swept the final three singles matches in straight sets to seal the victory.
Rapp was a 7-5, 6-1 winner at No. 4, Tilton 6-1, 6-0 triumphed at No. 5 and Lake won at love at No. 6.
SU continues spring break action on Wednesday versus Marietta in a neutral site match played in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
