WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's tennis earned its seventh win of the season Wednesday with a 7-2 non-league victory over Stevenson.
The Hornets (7-3) opened by winning two of the three doubles matches versus Stevenson (2-4) and then swept the top five singles matches to clinch the victory.
Shannon Allin and Caitlin Tilton, playing at No. 1 doubles, were 8-4 victors while Amber Lake and Jeannella Williams opened the day with an 8-1 win at No. 3.
Williams had the match clinching win, defeating Ty-Chelle Williams 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 singles after Tilton was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at No. 4 and Allin 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1.
Lake completed her two-win afternoon with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5.
Amy Rapp, playing No. 3, had the final win of the day for the hosts. She battled back from a 6-3 loss in the opening set to take the match with 6-1 wins in the final two sets.
Shenandoah continues this homestand with a Saturday ODAC match versus Randolph.
